2006 Summer Camp Photos
Arabic Language Instruction
| Exposure to Arabic is a primary
focus of the Camp. With the life story of preeminent
Egyptian singer and Arab icon Umm Kulthum as the main
theme this summer, children learned about the role
of the Arabic language in the poetry and lyrics of
Umm Kulthumıs songs, the differences in language and
lifestyle between the country and city, and the role
of tradition in the Arab world. All of this was made
fun and engaging by Arabic instructor Sally Bonet
through a variety of daily activities, including singing,
conversing, reading, writing, and playing games in
Arabic, with campers divided into groups by their
language skill level. |
Nature Study
| The campers learned all about nature. |
Art & Architecture
As part of learning about
the Arab region's historical role, campers experienced art and architecture. |
Music & Dance

Storytelling & Drama
The process of exploring stories became part of a play they presented at the end of camp. |
Video-Making for Counselors

activity for counselors. |
