Community Partnerships

Al-Bustan offers artistic workshops for corporate retreats, affinity groups, and professional development seminars in Al-Bustan's Hub location on Lancaster Avenue and onsite. Workshops provide opportunities for staff bonding and cultural enrichment and exchange.

Al-Bustan offers semester and year-long in-school and after-school programming for students in Philadelphia. Students can attend classes in visual arts and drumming over the course of the year, gaining sustained exposure to and cumulative education on contemporary Arab visual artists and rhythmic cycles of Arab percussion.

Al-Bustan offers singular and limited series demonstrations and workshops for students in-person and remotely. Past offerings include an introduction to the Arabic-speaking world, an artistic exploration of the Arabic alphabet, and a drumming demonstration on the doumbek.

We welcome community partners to Al-Bustan's Hub location on Lancaster Avenue, where we offer visual arts and music workshops for educators, Home and School Associations, student groups, and more. Past workshops include a weekend of Arab music instruction led by Percussionist Hafez Kotain and Oudist Issam Rafea and a mosaic workshop inspired by North African zellij.

Al-Bustan offers professional development workshops for educators K-12 in-person and remotely. The focus of these workshops can be tailored to the needs of your school or organization, from multilingualism in the classroom to integration of art therapy in school curricula.
