ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Ready to learn a new language while fostering community? Join Al-Bustan Seeds of Culture for our Arabic course led by the talented Ms. Noora Alrawi! Our classes offer a supportive and engaging environment for learners at various levels. Whether you're just beginning or advancing your skills, we have something for you. The courses offered throughout the year are: Beginner 1, Beginner 2, Beginner 3, Intermediate 1, Intermediate 2. Each course follows a carefully tailored curriculum, designed to meet the needs of our students. All classes are conducted online, allowing you to learn from the comfort of your home, while connecting with others on a similar journey.

About our Teachers

Our Beginner classes are taught by Ms. Noora AlRawi, who has a B.A. in Fine Arts from Purdue University. She is a certified Arabic instructor with STARTALK Program based at the University of Maryland. Noora has taught Arabic at Penn State University since 2011. Her other experiences include teaching elementary age students at private schools and institutions for many years and is currently teaching Arabic at University of Delaware.

Our Intermediate level class are offered by Dr. Riyad Alhomsi, who holds a PhD degree in Applied Linguistics (Second Language Acquisition and Teaching) from the University of Arizona, and is an ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) interviewer.

PROGRAMS DETAILS

  • Format: Live, virtual classes via Zoom

  • Duration: 10 weeks (20 sessions, 2 per week)

  • Cost: Varied, depending on course

Levels:

  • Beginner I  - $400, covers units 1 - 8 where students get familiar with alphabet phonetics and basic terminology

  • Beginner II - $400, covers units 9 - 15 where students dive deeper into words in plural form/feminine and masculine/etc,

  • Beginner III - $600, covers units 16 - 20 where the focus mostly is on creating sentences and getting comfortable speaking in Arabic. 

  • Intermediate - $480, Units 21 onward, where the focus will be on learning to comfortably speak and understand Arabic.

Each course requires an additional 3 hours of study outside of class time to maximize your learning experience. We use the textbook Mastering Arabic 1 With Online Audio by Jane Wightwick & Mahmoud Gaafar, which can be conveniently purchased here.

Once registered, you'll be added to our Google Classroom platform where you’ll find the syllabus, class recordings, and your Zoom link.

By registering with Al-Bustan Arabic for Adults classes, you will also have access to an exclusive online series of lectures about Arabic culture, language and arts by contributors both in the United States and abroad. A 50% discount on Beginner III tuition is granted to students who attend Beginner I + II levels with Al-Bustan. The textbook used for this course is Mastering Arabic 1 by Jane Wightwick and Mahmoud Gaafar.
