Al-Bustan Seeds of Culture is partnering with PalestineWrites Literature Festival for an evening of hakawatiyyeh oral storytelling, featuring captivating folkloric tales passed down through generations in women's spaces throughout Palestine.

Meet the Storytellers:
Fidaa Ataya:
A master storyteller, Fidaa learned the art of hakawatiyyeh from her grandmother, who was forcibly expelled from her home in Al Bouri by Israel in
1948. An accomplished artist, she has produced and performed shows worldwide, advocating for Palestinian heritage. 


Hanna Salmon: Hailing from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Hanna is a musician and researcher specializing in Palestinian storytelling as an atmospheric practice and artistic resistance. With her skillful oud performances and expertise in Ethnomusicology, she will transport you to the heart of Palestine's vibrant cultural tapestry. 


Kavalya Atma: From the beautiful city of Jerusalem, Kavalya is a renowned storyteller who has graced stages across #Palestine and the Arab world with her captivating #hakawatiyyeh performances. As a Kundalini Yoga teacher, she weaves personal stories with yoga to touch the souls of her audience and bring healing through her workshops.
