About the Film
"Sleepless Nights" follows the parallel, deeply moving journeys of two individuals bound by the ghosts of the Lebanese Civil War.
Assaad Shaftari, a former high-ranking intelligence officer in the Lebanese Forces militia, lives with the crushing weight and guilt of his bloody wartime actions. Maryam Saidi spends her nights trapped in an endless vigil, still searching for her son Maher—a young Communist fighter who vanished without a trace in 1982.
As both individuals search for their own form of salvation, Sleepless poses an unsettling but vital question: Are redemption and forgiveness truly possible in a community that seems unable to heal itself?
