CAMP COUNSELORS APPLICATION / AL-BUSTAN SEEDS OF CULTURE

Job Description

Are you interested in Arab arts, languages, culture? Do you wish to support Al-Bustan's mission in promoting understanding of Arab cultures and cross-cultural community building? Please fill this application for our upcoming volunteering opportunities. 
Position during Al-Bustan's Arab Arts & Culture Summer Camp 2026: Summer Camp Counselor 

Lessons: Arabic, Calligraphy, Visual Arts, Percussion, Swimming, Storytelling, Music (outdoor/indoor)  

Responsibilities:

• Needed commitment: Two weeks / June 22 - July 3 (no weekends)
  Time: 8:30am-5pm 
  Location: Awbury Recreation Center (6101 Ardleigh Street, Philadelphia, PA 19138) 

• General Summer Camp Support which includes: 
  1. Assisting the teachers and artists during the educational lessons and art activities with the kids. 
  2. Engaging and supervising kids during summer camp hours on a daily basis while fostering safe positive supportive environment. 
  3. Assisting staff with daily operation, materials, logistics and activities preparations. 
  4- Leading age-appropriate artistic, cultural, and educational activities  and engaging kids with games during breaks.
  5- Willing to support during swimming class; expected to be in the pool and get wet
  
  
  Compensation: Summer camp counselors/volunteers are paid honorarium $500 

• Notes:
  * Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, so early submission is encouraged 
  * Must be 17 years old and above 
  * 18+ Must submit 3 required clearances (child abuse, FBI finger print, and Criminal history) - We cover the expenses for these
  * Must be available in person for the whole duration of camp days & times-no exceptions * We don't provide visa sponsorship
